Greater Public Schools (GPS) Association of NSW
NSW's oldest + most prestigious schoolboy sporting association. Nine member schools founded the GPS in 1892 to organise inter-school cricket, rowing + rugby. Now contests rugby, rowing, cricket, athletics, swimming + basketball.
History + context
GPS NSW = AAGPS (Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools). The 9 members are essentially fixed since founding — the only addition in modern history is Newington (admitted 1893). The Head of the River regatta has been contested since 1892. Cricket and Rugby premierships are similarly tracked.
